As always, iTERM faculties and members demonstrate their passion in contributing to the field of Regenerative Medicine and bedside medical research in the local and international context.

On 25 Feb 2022, the 1st Symposium of Centre of Neuromusculoskeletal Restorative Medicine was held virtually with the participation of the representatives from the CUHK and Karolinska Institutet, and was divided into 5 sections:

  • Stem Cells and Cell-Based Therapy
  • Tissue Engineering and 3D Microtissue Modeling
  • Cellular and Molecular Mechanisms
  • Clinical Translation
  • Enabling Technologies

Facilitating the exchange of knowledge, talks were given by our faculty members, e.g., Application of tissue-specific stem/progenitor cells for osteoarthritis by Prof. Yangzi JIANG; 3D microphysiological model of muscle by Prof. Hon Fai CHAN; Engineering vascular muscle flaps for skeletal muscle repair by Prof. Elmer KER; Generation of immunomodulatory microenvironment for tendon repair by Prof. Dan WANG; MSC-derived microvesicles for delivery of disease-modifying osteoarthritis drugs by Prof. Rocky TUAN; 3D bioprinting and extracellular matrix-based microenvironment by Prof. Anna BLOCKISchwann cell precursors in peripheral nerve repair by Prof. Woody CHAN; Stem cell-based, gene-targeted peripheral nerve repair by Dr. Gang LU; Epigenomics study of aging skeletal muscle stem cells: Biology and interventions for sarcopenia  by Prof. Huating WANG; Clinical trials of innovative strategies for musculoskeletal regeneration by Prof. Patrick YUNG, Prof. Pauline LUI and Prof. Wayne LEE.

The exchange among these scientists will build fruitful collaborations aimed at advancing musculoskeletal science and developing next-generation technologies to address pressing needs in human health.
