Our faculty members, namely Professors Anna Maria BLOCKIHon-fai CHANDai Fei Elmer KER andDan WANG under the Institute for Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine (iTERM) and the School of Biomedical Sciences (SBS), were invited to be the guest speakers for SBS Research Day 2018, and to present their recent research projects on 17 May 2018.

Specifically, Prof. Dan WANG shared her experience and latest findings in the topic of “Bone Graft Revitalization via Inflammatory Modulation for Enhanced Bone Repair”; then followed by Prof. Anna BLOCKI‘s presentation on “The Controversial Origin of Pericytes – Implications for Cell-based Therapies”.

To explore further cross-disciplinary collaboration on and off the campus, Prof. Elmer KER and Prof. Hon-fai CHAN also demonstrated their recent findings and their goals to be achieved in the upcoming future, presenting on “Growth Factor Bioprinting and Computer Vision-based Cell Tracking for Musculoskeletal Tissue Engineering” and “Enhanced Functional Longevity of hiPSC Derived Hepatocyte-like Cells in 3D Suspension Culture”.

The event was well-attended by hundreds of faculty members and postgraduate students from the Faculties of Medicine and Engineering, and made very successful with the participation of different enterprises in the field of biomedicine and bio-technology.
