The Institute for Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine was honored to co-organize a seminar on July 14, 2023, featuring Prof. Junling Guo from Sichuan University and The University of British Columbia. The seminar entitled “Natural Polyphenols as Emerging Building Blocks for Functional Materials” provided a wealth of insights into the unique physicochemical and biological properties of plant polyphenols and their potential use as building blocks for the creation of a library of polyphenol-based materials.

Prof. Guo’s research is shaping the future of plant biomass conversion and providing numerous new thoughts and innovations to multidisciplinary communities. The talk highlighted the possibility of using plant polyphenols to inspire the development of new functional materials. The audience was deeply impressed by the potential applications of Prof. Guo’s research and the innovative approach to material design.

The seminar emphasized the importance of exploring natural sources for the creation of functional materials and the potential for interdisciplinary collaboration in the field of material science. We greatly appreciate Prof. Guo’s willingness to share his latest findings and experiences with our researchers and students.
