Histology Core

The Institute of Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine at the Chinese University of Hong Kong is offering 1

Research assistant position (CUHK Job ID: 22000022)
in Biology, Biotechnology, Biomedical Science and Engineering

The intended starting date is 01.04.2022

Our Profile

Cell-based therapy is a promising approach for the treatment of ischemic diseases, as cells respond to environmental stimuli by secreting a wide range of pro-healing and regenerative factors. Nonetheless, cell-based therapy faces many limitations due limited autologous cell numbers and diminished cell survival and engraftment upon implantation. We have addressed many of these limitations by establishing a novel approach to source human peripheral blood-derived angiogenic cells (BDACs). These cells can be sourced in clinically relevant numbers and time-frame and promote revascularization in ischemic tissues.

As ischemic diseases often occur in combination with diabetes as a co-morbidity (e.g. chronic wounds), BDACs from diabetic blood and shall be applied and their efficacy investigated under diabetic conditions.
