3 cross-border research grants of approximately RMB 16 million supported by the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) National Key Technologies Research and Development Program of China, were successfully awarded to Prof. Yangzi JIANG and Prof. Hon Fai CHAN, the young scientists and Principal Investigators under the Institute for Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine (iTERM) and School of Biomedical Sciences (SBS) at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK).

Prof. Yangzi JIANG’s research project (as the project coordinator) was selected and funded with RMB 5,450,000 on “The Roles and Mechanism of Tissue-Specific Stem Cells in Osteoarthritis” in the field of Stem Cells and Translational Research, under the “Young Scientist Scheme” . What’s more, within the recent 2 years, Prof. Hon Fai Chan received 2 research grants from MOST on the project “Engineering Highly Efficient Chassis Cell” in the field of Synthetic Biology with a budget of RMB 4,890,000; as well as the project “Smart Biomaterials for Directing Stem Cell Differentiation in 3D for Constructing Bioartificial Liver” in the field of Stem Cells and Translational Research with another RMB 5,000,000.
